The family and I had to head out to western Pennsylvania this weekend to tour a prospective college for the kid. Without stops, the trip to the campus took about six hours, spent mostly traversing the state across I-80.
We made a few stops along the way out there, so next week’s story will cover not only the trip, but also the experience of the tour and what this process says about the state of higher education for people like us. I think this has become something of a national pastime for parents who fret about the future of their children, but it also feels oddly familiar, like the dog and pony show we face when buying a new car — only with ten times the expense and anxiety.
If you have a college tour story you’d like to share, please do via email or in the comments. I could use some perspective.
Meanwhile, please enjoy a few photos from the trip so far.

See you next week.
Good Thing I had other plans and wasn’t home this morning on my couch to get disappointed by this lack of content to be enjoyed. Family First. Excellent Choice.
